But I'm a SoCal. :) Thanks for coming in tonight, Tim... it's great to see you here :) Lou: how are you tonight? but where does one go to vote? You're welcome. :) I've had a busy day. It's GREAT to be HERE! I am kinda in the middle of Ca. Bill: oh... you can get the poll text file at the Driven Web Site, do you have access to the internet? Room 2, QT's Farewell Bash! Job State Room Sta Genie Mail Name 1 PA 2 L CBM-LOU C128.LOU 2 CA 2 N W.WEBSTER4 Bill 3 MI 2 N M.GUTOWSKI Maurine 4 PA 2 N QT QT 5 CA 2 N T.PHELPS4 Tim 21:22EST 11/30/97 of course....don't all Genie users? yep :) is there a link there from ur site? you betcha :) What is it? cool, cause I have ur site book marked of course :) QT's website is rather snazzy. ok, does everybodey have their party hats on Maurine: are you asking for the address of my webpage? yes Sherry, what is that URL again? Lou: it's not tonight, the server crashed in the middle of some major changes! Sherry's site also looks great using Lynx All my links are probably screwed up now :( http://www.lm.com/~qt thanks! probably won't get it up & running properly again until next weekend I'm in the process of making a better looking lynx site & a better looking graphics site as well Tim: what is your URL again? I will have to make sure to bookmark ur site at my puter at work also...... hm, well, my homepage URL is http://people.delphi.com/timphelps/index.html I can see the graphics on that one Tim, I STILL haven't figured out how to upload files to my Delphi webspace Even with my help? I must have missed something in your instructions Bill: you must be lucky like me & have internet access at work :) (By the way, I have recently posted this information on the nav pub forum over there.) I always have troube. Maurine: how is Joey these days? yep the boss just bought a new pentium thingy..... Lou, do you remember what happened? Last night an Infomercial on WebTV sounded mighty tempting, with all that easy access. THat is, what was missing. I am going to get WebTV. and showed me how to make my own folder of favorites :) Joey's doing fine, getting all grown up. I have yet to see a demo of WebTV Tim, we will ahve to work this out later. It was SO long ago, I couldn't begin to say what was wrong. He goes by Joe at school and Joseph at church when he's a lector! OK, Lou. :) Thanks anyhow Tim! Hmmmm... people don't call me Louie much anymore... By the way, I have created an html version of the Commodore faq. It can be reach at http://people.delphi.com/timphelps/faq/faqmain.html Tim: Wow! Where do you find all the time? QT, I have too much time. Nice Tim! I haven't been to your site for a while. :/ I have a brother who is 50 whom I still call Georgie although he's been George since his early years. heh, I call my brother Sonny I'd better save and print out all of this to get all these sites. Tim: do you still have that bulletin board area up? No. I had to take it down due to lack of use. :/ how did you do that? Hm, removed the link? no, I mean how did you make the interactive bulletin board? Oh. Is that a Delphi CGI script, Tim? Well, there's a service called Inside the Web (http://www.InsideTheWeb.com) and they provide free bulletin boards. Room 2, QT's Farewell Bash! Job State Room Sta Genie Mail Name 1 PA 2 L CBM-LOU C128.LOU 2 CA 2 N W.WEBSTER4 Bill 3 MI 2 N M.GUTOWSKI Maurine 4 PA 2 N QT QT 5 CA 2 N T.PHELPS4 Tim The CGI scripts run on their own server. VERY interesting!!!! Consider me there! wow! I see Maurice is leaving Genie tonight also. Does he still have his BBS? yes Yes. ay and his website You can DL his going-away party file #18345 I can't believe this is it for me tonight :( its the beginning of something new :) QT, I remember when I first met you online. I just joined Genie (January 1994) and I ventured into an RTC and you were hosting that night. :) I was here for Maurice's party on Tuesday and you should have seen me when I logged off :( giggle I almost quit in early 1996 when the new ownership raised the rates without warning. I still can't believe you are actually leaving Sher But there were such nice people around that I've kept on. ...on the other hand, we all will someday but, you know what... I'll still be around... I'm as close as the IRC and as close as qt@telerama.lm.com and I really hope you all will still keep in touch with me I have seen you there. :) As Zig. On #c-64 channel of irc.stealth.net Heck, we can yap on a "insideThe Web" BB I have never done live chat on the net hehehe, you're right Lou I guess I could stat late at work somenight so I could Unfortunately, Genie doesn't have a "real" IRC. I've never done IRC either I am sure that pentium thing at wrork can do it Bill: it's really neat... and it's better cause you can transfer files to one another as you talk but, I have no idea where to go or how to use real time chat on the net every Thursday night there is a NTSC Demo Conference Bill: first you really need to have your own internet account I've tried & tried to access the IRC from Genie's options, but I can never get in my own personal account I do have direct net access from work my provider gives me a menu system Bill, then all you really need is a chat program... are you using Windows 95? I could probably use my son's Earthlink/AOL on his PC. or I should say thru a provider I guess yep, and learning it slowly If you're using a shell account (Unix) all you need to do is type IRC. Bill: then once you are on the internet, do a search on yahoo or something similar for mIRC I am not sure which browser, I think it is that microsoft one just install that file, and you'll easily be able to get onto IRC I can use all the search engines, yahoo, alta vista A feature on cybernetting last night recommended the Microsoft Browser. the c64 channel is #c64 or is it #c-64? Now I'm not sure. :) It's either one. :) I think it's the latter, I have it listed in my menu system so I log on..... I'm pretty sure it's #c-64 then do I go to a certain page or what for this IRC thing IF there's people in it, it's it. If not, it isn't. :) How about "Mirabilis"? On server irc.stealth.net Well, that'S one of the servers. ** is here. Bill: once you have mIRC installed you can write to me and I'll give you any further help you may need Hi Rich :) Welcome! HWELLO Hi Rich Notice on door: Goodbye to Genie's QTPie! WHATS up Hi Rich hmmmm, what is mIRC? A Farewell to QT Bill: it's one of the may programs available on the internet that will allow you to access the IRC and chat with an interface I thought Muarice He is also leaving. (Or to be more correct, has left.) ANY CMD or GEOS NEWs so I am going to have to download that No. right, Bill Not since the other night, Rich By the way, when using a Unix shell account, you are given IRCII (an IRC program for Unix) after you enter the IRC command. I am STILL waiting for super128cpu release I hear they are getting really close, Rich I see It may not happen in 1997. are there any particular websites I should check out for such programs? ** has left. testing it Other than doing a search for IRC on Yahoo, no. Message sent to Job 4 Or none I could think of. that I can do :) Bill: just go to one of the search engines (yahoo, lycos, alta vista, excite, or whatever) and use the keyword mIRC for your search, it will show you where you can find the file www.mirabilis.com has IRC software I still only have about 30 mins of time on a beamer for surfing..... But I am sure I can do it :) heh, when it's too icky for me to go out at lunch time, I usually just putz around and surf on the internet Hm. By the way, Bill, I *think* there are ISP's that offer shell accounts in your area. where Hm. read David Letterman's top tens and etc. or try to find new stuff re: HTML and etc. vianet http://www.vianet.net, I think. Folks, we are winding down our Special QT RTC tonight... Maurine: do you access the internet? WHat's your area code? ... in about 15 minutes 408 oh, OK. I'll try to see if there's any in your area later. thanks No. I was thinking of getting Gaelyne's book. Be sure to squeeze in all of your mushy stuff for Sherry before then. ;D ** is here. hehehe Hm, icky to go out for lunch. What does that mean? :) Hi Greg! hi lou, bill, maurine, sherry, tim Hi Greg. Thans for coming on such short notice everybody I'm glad it could be arranged. I can't think of anything specific but was of help here in the RT on many occasions. I remember Sherry was original QT.PIE. I always loved it when we embarressed QT in the RTC -ly Is she cute? She'd leave the room ... and come back in a few minutes I think I remember that but don't remember her as S.Freedline as that was before my time. embarring her was/is fun Yes, she was S.FREEDLINE Do you mean cute looking? We all know she is cute I have heard that she is very pretty I've never seen a picture. There is one in our library I think there is one of here and some other members of rt in the libs Where? But I don[7t think C64 users can view it. cam, rose, sherry, and ed too I think? Do a search on QT I'll ask son Joe to do it on his PC. Some kind of a C128 format, I think. I think it WAS C64 viewable... maurine you ought to say BIG son joe :) ...although I'm not positive Or rehook up my 128. Hm, I seem to remember having a hard time to see it with my vcocomputer. I will say she also has a very nice voice Well, it's about that time. There is a serperate library of pictures of staff/sysops. No, you look fine, Greg! Are you that ugly, Greg? ;D not really,,but I thought it was funny, actually shy is more of the case Yes, I told QT when she asked that he was indeed growing up. Good night folks!
